Inspired by the acclaimed Pokémon Radical Red, this hack introduces a more challenging and strategic gameplay experience, reimagining the Hoenn region with refined mechanics, revamped battles, and carefully balanced adjustments.
Although not officially connected to Radical Red, Emerald Imperium incorporates many of its celebrated features, such as updated abilities, stat reworks, type and learnset modifications, and revised evolution methods. Whether you’re a veteran of difficulty hacks or a dedicated Nuzlocke enthusiast, Pokémon Emerald Imperium promises a rewarding and immersive experience. It stays faithful to the original game’s charm while introducing new battles, improved balance, and a revitalized sense of challenge. Rediscover Hoenn with a twist—where nostalgia meets innovation.

These QoL improvements streamline gameplay, reduce tedious mechanics, and provide players with greater flexibility and control, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
Minimal Grinding Mode
It is the same as RR’s. With MGM enabled, all Pokemon are guaranteed to have perfect IVs, and neither the player nor the NPC trainers can obtain EVs. With MGM disabled, IVs are random, EVs are available, options for instant EV and IV customization remain, and NPC trainers retain perfect IVs and are EV-trained.
Difficulty MZodes
- Normal: the game’s intended difficulty, for which it was balanced. Boss battles will be difficult, you won’t be able to access the Bag during trainer battles, and the battle style will be Set.
- Easy: This experience should be harder than a vanilla Pokemon game, but much easier than Normal mode. All Boss Pokemon will be two levels lower than in normal mode. You can also access the Bag during trainer battles and change the battle style to Shift if you want, but it is still set by default.
Randomizer
- Accessed in-game.
- The player can select between normal species randomization (fully random), scaled species randomization (Pokemon are randomized into Pokemon with similar base stats), and Legendary-aware species randomization (fully random, but Legendaries are randomized into Legendaries), all of which apply to both encounterable Pokemon and regular NPC trainers’ Pokemon. Boss NPC trainers will never be randomized.
- Ability randomization is also configurable and separate from species randomization.
- The documentation contains a list of the abilities that are included and excluded from the randomizer.
Info for Stat Editor, IV Perfecter NPC, and Hidden Power type changer NPC
In Minimal Grinding Mode:
- IV Perfecter NPC is not enabled, you can just use the Stat Editor to perfect your IVs
- Stat Editor can only change IVs and can change them freely. Cannot change EVs.
- Hidden Power type changer NPC can change HP type freely, with no limitations.
NOT in Minimal Grinding Mode:
- IV Perfecter NPC: You get to perfect the IVs of 5 Pokemon per Gym Badge earned. After all 8 Gym Badges are obtained, you can use the IV Perfecter NPC freely.
- Stat Editor: You can edit the EVs of any Pokemon freely. You can only change the IVs of a Pokemon who has had their IVs perfected by the IV Perfecter NPC, and you can change those Pokemon’s IVs freely.
- Hidden Power type changer NPC: can only change the HP type of a Pokemon who has had their IVs perfected by the IV Perfecter NPC.
IMPORTANT
Please avoid using VBA or MyBoy because they are known to cause visual glitches and crashes in this game. For the best experience, use mGBA on a PC and PizzaBoy, Lemuroid, or RetroArch with the mGBA Core on mobile devices.
